The Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) is the national metrology institute of Germany, providing scientific and technical services; it is among the top names in metrology worldwide, and in Germany it is the highest authority when it comes to correct and reliable measurements. PTB performs fundamental research and development work in the field of metrology as a basis for all the tasks entrusted to it in the areas concerning the determination of fundamental and natural constants, the realization, maintenance, and dissemination of the legal units of the SI, safety engineering, services and metrology for the area regulated by law and for industry, as well as technology transfer.
Research expertise on Realisation, maintenance and dissemination of the scales of the diffuse reflection, standardizing laboratory of the ISO, Measurement and calibration of diffuse spectral reflection classification numbers in different geometries using:
- Integrating spheres for the calibration in hemispherical- directed Geometries;
- Robot-based gonioreflectometers for calibration in arbitrary directional geometries in 3D-space;
- Responsible for the National standard equipment for regular and diffuse reflection and regular transmittance
